Compress PDF

Shrink the size of a PDF without changing what it looks like. We rewrite the file structure and drop redundant data so your document is lighter to email, upload or archive.

Files are encrypted at rest, kept in your history for 24 hours on Free (30 days on Pro), then deleted automatically.

How Compress PDF works

    We optimise it

We rewrite the structure and strip unused metadata.

Compress PDF — Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will my PDF be?

It depends on the source. Scanned PDFs shrink most; text-only PDFs least.

Will quality drop?

This tool does lossless structural optimisation only — no image re-encoding by default.

Are password-protected PDFs supported?

Not yet. Unlock the file first, then compress.

Can I compress many PDFs at once?

Currently one file per run. Batch mode is on our roadmap.

Is Compress PDF free to use?

Yes. The Free plan lets you run Compress PDF twice a day on files up to 10 MB, no card required. Pro removes the daily limit and raises the size cap to 50 MB.

Does Compress PDF work on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android?

Yes. Compress PDF runs in any modern browser, so it works the same on macOS, Windows, Linux, ChromeOS, iOS and Android — no app to install.

What's the maximum file size?

10 MB per file on the Free plan, 50 MB on Pro and 200 MB on Business. Larger files should be compressed first with the Compress PDF tool.
